Housing Works Furniture Donation Pickup Request Form


Thank you for inquiring about donating furniture to Housing Works Thrift Shops.

 

Using this form allows us to provide you the best quality service and most rapid response time. Before filling it out please know that photos are required at the bottom of the form.  You can expect a response with 2-3 business days depending on volume.  Please note a high volume of request are received towards the end of each month.  We do our best to confirm a pickup date within 7-10 business days.

Note: You may itemize your donation to whatever extent you wish. In making this decision, you may want to consider that for a donation of $250-$500, the IRS requires a "reasonable" description of the donation, and for a donation of over $500, it requires a "detailed list." If you are donating an item or items for which you will be placing a value of $5,000 or more, we recommend you contact your accountant or the IRS to determine appraisal and IRS Form 8283 requirements.


What We Take

• Contemporary, vintage and antique furniture in excellent condition
• Clean apparel (in plastic garbage bags only)
• Accessories/Shoes (boxed or bagged)
• Antiques
• Art
• Decorative items
• Fabric
• Clean housewares (properly packed in boxes only)
• Jewelry
• Lamps and lighting fixtures
• Clean rugs (up to 6'x9' with occasional exceptions)
• Unusual finds
• Up to 4 Boxes of books (12"x 12" box max) – for more than 4 boxes, inquire here.

What We Can't Take

• Furniture that is not structurally sound
• Furniture with surface damage, multiple stains, fading, tears, or pet hair
• Any furniture with missing parts (shelves, door castors, legs, cushions, etc.)
• Office furniture
• Bedframes (with occasional exceptions), Mattresses, Box Springs, Futons, Day Beds
Large Tables & Cabinets - dimensions exceeding 8’ (with occasional exceptions)
Obsolete media stands or cabinets
• Broken or chipped dishware or glassware
• Electronics (with occasional exceptions)
• Baby/children’s items (cribs, changing tables, high chairs, etc.), toys and stuffed animals (unless in un-opened packages)
• Used household appliances (coffeemakers, humidifiers, irons, etc.), large appliances (dishwashers, ovens, refrigerators, etc.)
• Medical and exercise equipment
• Personal care items (hair dryers, hairbrushes, cosmetics, etc.)
• Textbooks, periodicals, worn or damaged books

Top Reasons That Furniture is Declined During a Pick Up
  • Worn/ damaged/ stained upholstery
  • Removal paths that are too small
  • Furniture that is not structurally sound

Pick up Information
In order to schedule a furniture pick up, you must be available between the hours of 10:00AM and 4:00PM. We will give advance notice of our arrival.

      

Pickup Dates must be entered using a two digit month/two digit day and 4 digit year (ex. 08/26/2017) otherwise an error will occur and the form will not be received.
